Stoke Performing Arts Group

A group of people from Stoke came together in mid-2015 to re-ignite an idea originally discussed during the annual Stoke carol singing the previous Christmas. This idea was to produce a play, “And Grandsire Went Wrong” which written by one of their number, Angela Hodges (Min). The play was about the village; more specifically it was about the people of Stoke and the centenary of the start of the Battle of the Somme, in July 2016. Our second play The Charity Shop, April 2017 again was an amazing success and had everyone laughing.

The third performances were Two One Act Plays, from the magical hand of Angela Hodges. 'Auntie Marj Returns' and 'All in the Mind', again were a great 'sell out' success.
Winter Ghosts, March 2018, was an interactive performance aimed at families, it was great fun to perform and attend. Since then we have had the Memory Stone in 2018, Pint Size Plays and the Murder Mysteries performed in 2019.
Min has not sat idylly by whilst we put these plays together, she has another play sat in the wings, waiting for the seventh production, Chicken House Chicks in May 2021,  see our What's New page for more details.
